Relatedness (Cree: Wahkohtowin) is a Cree and Métis worldview where all existence is understood to have moral status that individuals should maintain good relations with, rather than as a commodity, including land. Under this understanding of land, people generally do not believe in ownership of land, but conditional use-rights based on need, demonstrated past care, and whether the proposed use can be sustained without long-term environmental harms. Similarly, people do not permanently sell or use land as an investment asset.
